What is Dice Masters Vs Cancer?
For several years now The Ministry of Dice has been involved with the “Gaming Vs Cancer” initiative; a UK based charitable collective of tabletop gaming stores and content creators that raises money for Cancer Research UK.
We’ve raised money with them for 5 years now, but Dice Masters tournaments had been a part of the convention for years before hand and it was the location of a number of WKOs prior to our involvement. We’re proud to be a part of the association and do our bit to support the fight against Cancer.
Traditionally the main Gaming Vs Cancer fund raising event is a gaming convention in Southampton, however UK lockdown prevented it from taking place in 2021, and it appears to not be going forward as a face-to-face event again this year. (For a multitude of reasons)
However; in lieu of the face-to-face convention for the last few years we have ran a virtual alternative instead, and so we have decided to run the event virtually again this year. They’ve been a great success; this approach has allowed us to include our international Dice Masters friends, roll some bones for a good cause, and raise a fair contribution for the charity effort.

When & Where Is Dice Masters Vs Cancer?
Date: Saturday 19th November
Where: Online (Discord & Video Chat)
Start Time: Check in 17:30 GMT, First round start 18:00 GMT (UK players – remember the clocks are changing on the 31st October)

Rounds are “best of One” and to be played over 45 minutes.
There will be NO ROUNDS AT TIME. The event will be running well into the evening for participants on this side of the planet so we are adhering to a strict time limit, and having 5 rounds at time in effect has a habit of running things waaaaaaay over.
In the event of one, incomplete game in the round the win will be awarded to the player with the highest life total when the timer ends. Please team build accordingly with this in mind.
We will not be running any cuts – the leader-board will be based on Swiss Round performance. Matching performance will be decided by “Strength of Schedule” as determined by the exciting algorithmic machinations of Challonge.
We are asking participants to “check in” on Challonge and hang out on the Discord channel 30 minutes before start time, to ensure a prompt kick off at 6pm GMT.

The format is going to be Modern Constructed with all cards used in the Top 8 World Championship Teams banned.

Entry Requirements
This is a ticketed event. Entry is £10 GBP. All of the ticket are donations and all proceeds, less transaction fees, will be placed in the fundraising pot.
You will make your ticket donation before registration. Please head to the Collctiv link below and make your donation of £10. In the “Leave Chris a message?” box please add your relevant Discord & Challonge usernames. The decision to pay the support fee to Collctiv is up to you, but you can change it to 0%.
If you want to donate more than the £10 entry fee then you can! Just change the donation amount at the link.
Once you have made your ticket donation then head to the Challonge page to get registered:
Registration will close at Midnight UK Time on 18th November.
Player interaction & correspondence will take place using Discord. Click the button below to join the Dice Masters Online Discord group and head to the “Dice Masters Vs Cancer 2022” channel in the server.
Team lists can be submitted through the submission process on Discord with a Team Builder link. You can find the Team Builder here:

How will Prizes be Awarded?
We have a number of prizes available on the day, here’s the info on how prizes will be awarded…
Each prize will be drawn randomly as part of a raffle at the end of the event on The Ministry of Dice Twitch channel. Raffle ticket entries can be earned by:
- Participation (1 ticket)
- Winning a match (2 tickets)
- Playing for the event duration (1 ticket)
- Meeting “Team Building Achievement” criteria bonuses (outlined in the chart below)

In addition to funds raised by the tournament’s tickets we like to run a few other fun little bits to bump up the total as much as possible.
You may have noticed that each of the tournament’s team building achievements are a quote from a movie, TV Show or Comic book. You know what that means, right? It QUIZ TIME!
Use your nerdy knowledge, or your finest Google-Fu, to name the source of the quote. Successfully naming the source of all 10 quotes will earn you entry in the quote quiz raffle for a special, mystery prize from the MoD.
If you can provide the precise episode title or issue number for the quotes from TV Shows or Comic Book series then you will earn an additional entry to the raffle!

Yes – keep an eye out in the weeks leading up to the event for other ways to contribute. We’ll be running a quiz, there will be some commemorative memorabilia for sale, and a some extra community member activity all helping the cause.

Getting Set Up Online
Ministry of Dice events are an open & welcome space and we are always keen to encourage all Dice Masters players involved. Even if you have little to no experience of playing Dice Masters Online we are happy to help and support you as much as we can if you want to make this your first time.

Please don’t hesitate to ask questions on the event Discord channel either. We’re not technical support, but are more than happy to share the details of how we are set up and get playing and so is the Online Dice Masters community.

The Small Print
All prizes are subject to change. Some prizing is still in transit and, honestly, my faith in USPS International service time scales are pretty low. Some of the prizing is shipping from East Asia. Therefore; we reserve the right to offer an alternative or ask for patience if delivery takes a while.
Winners will be contacted and asked for their postal addresses. If you are winner of a virtual code we will ask for your an e-mail address too.
Many of these prizes are limited so we cannot replace in the event of transit damage or loss.
Some prizes will be sent to the winner direct from the donating party. In this instance we will request permission to share your postal address with the contributing organisation before giving your details.
