MoDPDM Feb 2019 Team Lists & Overview

Hi folks,

This past Sunday marked the fourth MoDPDM (“Ministry of Dice Presents Dice Masters” for those not in the know) to take place since we started recording the podcast on BritRollerSix.com.

MoDPDM events are Casual, unofficial Dice Masters tournaments organised by us here in the UK. Regular readers/podcast listeners will be aware that we are big believers in the opportunity for fun that sits in Dice Masters without getting bogged down in the cut throat one-turn kill aggro of high level competitive play that can appeal to more than just those interested in playing “at the top”.

We had 14 players attend on Sunday and the event took place at Elements Games in Stockport. the format for the event was “Golden Age Single Affiliation”, which meant that all of the character cards on your team must share the same Affiliation symbol. We also had a handful of other restrictions we asked the players to abide by. These were:

1. Any Action cards a player used MUST be thematically linked to the affiliation they chose;
2. The Villain Affiliation was to be split by Intellectual Property. This means that if platers chose Villains they had to be all DC, all Marvel, or all TMNT;
3. Their Basic Action Cards had to be from the same IP as your chosen affiliation;
4. There was a Ban List: SR Yuan-Ti, Half-Elf Bard – Masters Lords Alliance, R Cosmic Cube, Imprisoned, Sword of Revealing Light and Relentless were not permitted.

Prizing was to be awarded in an interesting way too. We had top prizes for first place, second place, and the player who won the “Fellowship” event at the end of the event. These included a selection of Dice Masters promos available (The latest we could get our hands on, sadly the Super Spies order did not arrive in time.) as well as some custom product in the form of a MoD Movement Tray, MoDPoD, custom artwork, and a lovely set of Avengers: Infinity dice to get one lucky player up to Max Die 4.

But, in addition to the top prizes we had the “True Mister Six Mystery Prize Raffle”. The box is full of so much exciting Dice Masters goodies, Super Hero merchandise and gaming paraphernalia it would be impossible to list for fear of over whelming you with sheer awesomeness. Each item has a raffle ticket attached and players can earn a ticket for each game won. That’s each GAME won, so in a best of 3 you could potential win up to 2 prizes.

We played 5 rounds of Swiss and position was determined by the players performance at Swiss rounds. No top cuts – everyone plays all day.

There’s been a lot of interest in the team lists so, for those who asked, here you go, in order of position at the end of the day…

Martin Holmes

My Sincerest apologies to Martin – I may have had my finger over the lens when I took a quick snap of his team and didn’t notice until I came to type these up today (Monday) Sorry Martin – my bad!

Martin was definitely playing the Guardians of the Galaxy affiliation and I’m pretty certain I saw some Avengers: Infinity set Rocket Raccoon dice in his field at one point. That’s all I got…

                                                  ———————————————————-

 Be sure to tune in to the Ministry of Dice podcast next Monday to hear our thoughts on the day and talk through our rounds.

Congratulations to Ste Clegg and Seth for taking away the top spot and second place respectively. My special thanks to Ste who chose to gift me with the “Kate BishSix” prize as I was it’s spiritual home.

The next MoDPDM is already in the works (depending on a few other things in the pipeline.) so keep your eyes and ears open for word on that in the coming months.

What do you think of the team’s folks? Got a Golden Single Affiliation idea you don’t see and care to share? Let us know in the comments below…
