“The Ministry of Dice Presents Dice Master” Event, May 2019, Overview & Team Lists

Hey folks,

The latest “Ministry of Dice Presents Dice Masters” event took place yesterday.

This was the fifth such event we’ve laid on since we started them up last year, and our second time being hosted at the Crescent Gaming Consortium in Leamington Spa.

If you’re new to the blog and wondering what a “Ministry of Dice Presents Dice Masters” event is (generally referred to as an MoDPDM for short); it is a Swiss only tournament we organise at various intervals through the year, with prizing galore provided by this very blog, to encourage players spread out across our great island to come together for a big day out and roll some dice together. We talk about the idea a lot on our podcast, and this episode HERE has a segment in it with a particularly explanation of our philosophy around these types of events and how we like to run them.

The event format this time around was Modern Constructed, and the theme was, broadly speaking, “Nats Rehearsal” (Broad in the sense that we’ve not had our Nationals date pinned down yet), which was all about testing new team lists, experimenting with some cards from newer sets, and getting a feel for what may, or may not, be meta right now on our grand island.

On Saturday we had ten players total, from all over the UK, and everyone was in good spirits. The atmosphere all day long was relaxed and enjoyable as the players chatted, joked, and played over 5 Swiss rounds through the day, culminating in the “True Mister Six Mystery Prize Raffle” at the close of the day.
